Tabakmarkt
Tabakmarkt is a term used in the German-speaking world to denote a place or period in which tobacco products were traded. Historically, tobacco markets developed in many towns as specialized trading sites within larger market halls or port districts. Here, buyers and sellers negotiated prices for raw tobacco leaves from colonies as well as processed products such as cigars, cigarettes, pipe tobacco and snuff. Market days or fairs organized the trade, with duties and taxes influencing prices and conditions of delivery.
