TMems

TMems, or Thermal MEMS, refers to a class of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems that are designed to sense, manipulate, or control thermal energy. These devices leverage microfabrication techniques to create structures with dimensions in the micrometer range, allowing for precise thermal management and measurement at a small scale. TMems devices can perform a variety of functions, including temperature sensing, heating, cooling, and thermal isolation.

Key components of TMems devices often include microheaters, thermopiles, microbridges, and thermal isolation structures. Microheaters are resistive elements that generate heat when an electric current passes through them. Thermopiles are arrays of thermocouples that convert a temperature difference into a voltage. Microbridges are suspended structures that can be used for thermal isolation or to transmit heat. Thermal isolation structures are designed to minimize heat transfer between different parts of a device or between the device and its environment.

Applications of TMems are diverse and span across various industries. In the medical field, they are used in biosensors for detecting temperature changes associated with biological processes and in micro-scale thermal therapy.
