Súðavíkurhreppur

Súðavíkurhreppur is a municipality located in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It was established in 1989 when it separated from the larger municipality of Ísafjarðarkaupstaður. The municipality encompasses a significant portion of the southern side of the Ísafjarðardjúp fjord.

The main settlement within Súðavíkurhreppur is the village of Súðavík. Situated on the Reykjanes peninsula, Súðavík is known for its picturesque setting and its historical connection to fishing. The village experienced a devastating avalanche in 1995, which destroyed a significant portion of the settlement, leading to a period of rebuilding and modernization.

The economy of Súðavíkurhreppur has traditionally been based on fishing and related industries.
