Söyledim

Söyledim is the first-person singular short past (simple past) form of the Turkish verb söylemek, meaning to say or to tell. It is formed from the stem söyle- plus the past tense suffix -di and the first-person singular ending -m, producing söyledim. In Turkish orthography the combination yields the single word söyledim, following the language’s consonant and vowel harmony rules.

Use and meaning: Söyledim is used when the speaker refers to something they themselves said in the past. It often appears in narratives that recount speech or stated content. For example: “Dün sana bu haberi söyledim.” (Yesterday I told you this news.) “Ona kendi planımı söyledim.” (I told him my plan.) The form can pair with direct quotation or with a dependent clause indicating what was said, such as ne söylediğimi (what I said).
