Sähkövasarat

Sähkövasarat, commonly known as electric hammers or rotary hammers, are power tools designed for drilling into hard materials like concrete, brick, and stone. They combine a rotary action with a hammering mechanism to efficiently break apart and remove material. This makes them significantly more powerful than standard drills for masonry applications.

The core of a sähkövasara's operation lies in its piston and cylinder assembly. As the motor spins, it drives a piston that reciprocates rapidly within a cylinder. This rapid striking motion, amplified by the tool's gearing, delivers powerful blows to the drill bit. Unlike a demolition hammer, which is purely for breaking, a sähkövasara typically offers multiple modes of operation. These usually include rotation only (for drilling wood or metal), hammering only (for light chiseling), and the most common mode: rotary hammering, which combines both actions for drilling into masonry.

Sähkövasarat come in various sizes and power ratings, often classified by the chuck type (SDS-Plus or SDS-Max being common) and the joule rating of the impact energy. SDS chucks allow for quick and tool-free bit changes. The choice of sähkövasara depends on the intended application, with larger, more powerful models suited for heavy-duty construction and smaller, lighter ones for more general DIY tasks. Safety features such as anti-vibration systems are also common, reducing user fatigue during prolonged use.
