Sähköpulssihitsaus

Sähköpulssihitsaus, known in English as pulsed arc welding or pulsed GMAW/MIG welding, is a variation of the gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process. It utilizes a pulsed electrical current to control the heat input and the transfer of molten metal from the electrode to the workpiece. Instead of a continuous current, the welding machine delivers a series of high-current pulses superimposed on a lower background current. This pulsing action allows for a more controlled melting of the electrode tip and a more directed droplet transfer.

The primary advantage of sähköpulssihitsaus is its ability to achieve a spray-like metal transfer with lower average current. This results in less heat input into the base material, reducing distortion and the risk of burn-through, especially when welding thin materials or in out-of-position welding situations. The pulsed nature also helps to stabilize the arc, leading to a cleaner weld with fewer spatter issues compared to conventional GMAW. Different pulse waveforms and frequencies can be adjusted to optimize the process for specific materials, joint configurations, and welding speeds. This technique is widely used in industries requiring high-quality welds with minimal defects, such as automotive manufacturing, aerospace, and pipeline construction.
