Szállítóproteinek, also known as transport proteins, are essential molecules found in living organisms that facilitate the movement of other substances across cell membranes or within the body. These proteins play a critical role in maintaining cellular homeostasis and enabling vital physiological processes. They are broadly categorized into two main types: membrane transport proteins and blood transport proteins.

Membrane transport proteins are embedded within the lipid bilayer of cell membranes. They regulate the passage of ions, small molecules, and even larger compounds into and out of cells. This includes channels, carriers, and pumps. Channels form pores that allow specific substances to move through by diffusion, often down their concentration gradient. Carriers bind to specific solutes and undergo conformational changes to shuttle them across the membrane, which can be facilitated diffusion or active transport. Pumps, a type of carrier, utilize energy, typically from ATP hydrolysis, to move substances against their concentration gradients, enabling cells to accumulate or expel molecules against prevailing electrochemical forces.

Blood transport proteins, such as albumin and hemoglobin, circulate in the bloodstream and are responsible for carrying various molecules throughout the body. Albumin is a major carrier of fatty acids, hormones, and drugs, helping to maintain osmotic pressure and pH balance. Hemoglobin is crucial for oxygen transport from the lungs to tissues and carbon dioxide transport from tissues back to the lungs for exhalation. Other transport proteins in the blood carry vitamins, minerals, and waste products. The specificity of these proteins ensures that essential substances reach their intended destinations and metabolic byproducts are efficiently removed.
