Személystelenség

Személystelenség, also known as depersonalization, is a dissociative symptom characterized by a feeling of detachment from one's own self. Individuals experiencing depersonalization may feel as though they are an outside observer of their own thoughts, feelings, sensations, body, or actions. It can feel like being in a dream or a movie, with a sense of unreality regarding one's internal experiences.

This sensation is often described as a disconnect between the mind and the body, or a feeling of being a robot or automaton. While the person remains aware that this feeling is a subjective experience and not an objective reality, the detachment can be distressing. Depersonalization can occur as a standalone symptom or as part of a larger condition, such as depersonalization-derealization disorder, anxiety disorders, depression, or trauma-related disorders.

The causes are not fully understood but are often linked to stress, trauma, or overwhelming emotional experiences. The exact prevalence is difficult to pinpoint, but it is considered one of the more common dissociative experiences. Treatment often involves psychotherapy, which may include cognitive behavioral therapy or psychodynamic therapy, to address underlying causes and develop coping mechanisms. In some cases, medication may be used to manage co-occurring conditions like anxiety or depression.
