Személyiségvonások, often translated as personality traits, refer to enduring patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion that characterize an individual. These are considered stable aspects of a person's personality that tend to manifest consistently across different situations and over time. They are not temporary moods or fleeting states but rather deeper, more ingrained tendencies.

The concept of personality traits is central to many psychological theories that aim to understand and describe individual differences. These traits are often viewed as dimensions along which people vary. For example, one might be described as more or less introverted, conscientious, or agreeable.

Researchers often use questionnaires and observational methods to identify and measure personality traits. Various models have been developed to categorize and explain these traits. The most well-known is the Five-Factor Model, which proposes five broad dimensions: openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (often remembered by the acronym OCEAN). Each dimension represents a continuum, and individuals fall somewhere along each of these continuums.

Understanding personality traits can be helpful in various contexts, including predicting behavior, understanding interpersonal dynamics, and in fields like organizational psychology for employee selection and development. While traits are considered relatively stable, they can be influenced by life experiences and developmental processes to some extent.
