Sytoplasmassä

Sytoplasmassä is a term found in speculative biology and some science fiction narratives to denote a hypothetical interior region of a cell. Unlike the established cytoplasm, which is the aqueous matrix between the plasma membrane and the nuclear envelope, sytoplasmassä is described as a distinct, phase-separated milieu that underpins metabolism, transport, and signaling in imagined organisms or models.

In these concepts, sytoplasmassä may be composed of a viscous, gel-like phase enriched in macromolecules, ions, and energy carriers, with a dynamic network of polymers or filaments that differ from the cytoskeleton as traditionally defined. It is often imagined to host subcompartments, transient condensates, or microdomains that organize enzymatic reactions and regulate diffusion.

Proposed functions include serving as the primary site for cytoplasmic metabolism, buffering ions, guiding intracellular transport, and enabling rapid signaling. Some authors distinguish sytoplasmassä from cytoplasm by its proposed higher viscosity, different ionic strength, or more pronounced phase behavior.

In real biology, sytoplasmassä is not recognized by mainstream cell biology and is typically treated as fiction or as a theoretical construct to explore subcellular organization. The term is occasionally used in thought experiments to discuss how changes in intracellular liquidity or phase separation might influence cellular processes.
