Sw853

Sw853 is a Chinese main battle tank developed by Chinese defense manufacturer Norinco. The tank was first unveiled in 2011 as an upgraded version of the Type 96B. Sw853 features improved armor, a new fire control system, and enhanced mobility. The tank's fire control system is based on a computerized stabilized sighting and tracking system which allows for accurate and rapid targeting. The Sw853 is equipped with a 125mm smooth-bore gun capable of firing a variety of ammunition including high explosive, armor-piercing, and guided projectiles.

The Sw853 has a crew of four: commander, gunner, loader, and driver. The driver is seated at the front right of the tank. The Sw853 is powered by a 12-cylinder diesel engine capable of producing over 1,000 horsepower. This engine gives the Sw853 a top speed of approximately 70 kilometers per hour. The tank's maximum range is reported to be over 450 kilometers.

The Sw853 has a crew compartment at the rear of the tank, above which is mounted a single operator-activated fire suppression system. This system can be activated by the crew in the event of an internal fire. The compartment also features five air conditioning units, two refrigerators, and power outlets.

Comparisons to other main battle tanks have noted the Sw853's larger profile and its slightly lower power-to-weight ratio than some other modern tanks. However, some tank analysts have praised the Sw853's thicker armor and reliable performance. As with most modern Chinese tanks, the Sw853 is likely export-oriented, although details on this are scarce.
