Suoritettuaan

Suoritettuaan is a non-finite verb form of the Finnish verb suorittaa (to complete, to perform). It is classified as an adverbial participle, also known as a konjunktiopartisiippi, and it expresses that the action described in a subordinate clause has been completed before the action in the main clause. In English, the function is roughly equivalent to “after having completed” or “having completed.”

Formation and usage

The form suoritettuaan combines the past passive participle of suorittaa with an adverbial suffix, producing a non-finite clause that refers to the subject of the main clause. The subordinate clause introduced by suoritettuaan typically precedes the main clause and the two clauses share the same subject.
