Suodatinmatriisi, known in English as a filter matrix, is a mathematical concept used in various fields, particularly in signal processing and image processing. It represents a small array of numbers that is applied to an input signal or image to achieve a specific transformation. This transformation often involves smoothing, sharpening, edge detection, or noise reduction.

The core idea behind a suodatinmatriisi is convolution. The matrix, also called a kernel or mask, is slid across the input data.
