Sulfoniumlike

Sulfoniumlike is a term used in chemistry to describe compounds that possess structural or electronic characteristics similar to sulfonium salts, but without necessarily being a true sulfonium salt. Sulfonium salts are organic compounds containing a positively charged sulfur atom bonded to three carbon atoms, with a counter-anion.

In a sulfoniumlike species, the sulfur atom might bear a formal positive charge or have a highly polarized S-C bond that mimics the charge distribution found in sulfonium ions.
