Sulamuse

Sulamuse is a former village located in Estonia. The village was situated in the Räpina Parish of the Põlva County. Sulamuse was known for its historical significance and natural beauty. However, due to a process called the "relocation of settlements in Räpina Parish," the village was officially dissolved in 1977.

The village of Sulamuse existed from at least the 15th century until its eventual dissolution. Archaeological findings have shown that the area has been inhabited dating back to the Neolithic period. The village itself was known for its historic building which dated back to the 16th century. Unfortunately, the exact date when the village was founded is currently unknown due to the lack of sufficient documentation.

Sulamuse lies in a region of Estonia known for its lakes, the local hill landscape, and old forests. The area's diverse geography made it conducive to recreational activities like fishing and swimming. The village's proximity to Lake Räpina suggests its residents would often engage in these leisure activities.

Following the dissolution of Sulamuse, the abandoned village became a source of interest for tourists and archaeologists. Excavations conducted by the Institute of Heritage Conservation and the Archaeological Museum have uncovered remnants of rural dwellings and material artifacts that provide valuable insights into life in Sulamuse. The relics discovered, including pottery and brickwork, offer a glimpse into the lives of its former residents.
