Suhtlusteooriate, also known as relational theories, are a set of approaches in social sciences that focus on the relationships and interactions between individuals, groups, or organizations. These theories emphasize the importance of understanding how these relationships influence behavior, attitudes, and outcomes. Unlike individualistic theories that focus on the characteristics of individuals, relational theories consider the dynamics and interdependencies within social contexts.

One of the foundational relational theories is George Homans' "The Human Group." Homans argued that social behavior is fundamentally relational, and that individuals are motivated by a desire for social approval and a fear of disapproval. This theory highlights the importance of social relationships in shaping individual behavior.

Another key relational theory is Anthony Giddens' "Structuration Theory." Giddens proposed that social structures and actions are interdependent and mutually constitutive. He argued that social structures, such as norms and institutions, are reproduced through the actions of individuals, and these actions, in turn, are shaped by the existing structures. This theory emphasizes the dynamic and ongoing nature of social relationships.
