Subrenter

Subrenter refers to an individual or entity that rents a property from a primary tenant rather than directly from the landlord. This practice is often referred to as subletting or subleasing. The subrenter enters into a rental agreement with the original tenant, who remains responsible to the landlord for the entire lease terms. This arrangement is typically only permitted if the original lease agreement explicitly allows for subletting or if the landlord provides written consent.

The subrenter pays rent to the original tenant, who in turn pays the full rent to the landlord. Subletting can occur for various reasons, such as the original tenant needing to relocate temporarily or permanently while still being obligated under their lease, or to offset the cost of rent. It is crucial for both the original tenant and the subrenter to have a clear and legally sound sublease agreement outlining terms such as rent amount, duration of the sublease, responsibilities for utilities, and any specific rules or restrictions.

Landlords may have specific policies regarding subletting, often requiring approval for any subrenter to ensure they meet certain criteria.
