Strømningsmotorer

Strømningsmotorer, also known as flow motors or flow engines, are mechanical devices designed to convert the kinetic energy of a fluid into mechanical work. Unlike pumps, which impart energy to a fluid, strømningsmotorer extract energy from the fluid's movement. They are fundamentally a type of turbine, but the term strømningsmotor is often used in a broader context that can encompass various designs and applications.

The working principle of a strømningsmotor relies on the interaction between the flowing fluid and moving parts of the motor. When a fluid with sufficient velocity and pressure flows through the device, it exerts a force on components like impellers, blades, or vanes, causing them to rotate or move. This rotational or linear motion is then harnessed to perform useful work, such as driving a generator, a pump, or other machinery.

Strømningsmotorer are employed in a variety of fields. In hydropower, they are essentially turbines that generate electricity from flowing water. They can also be found in wind turbines, where they convert wind energy into rotational motion. In more specialized applications, they might be used in fluid power systems to operate actuators or in industrial processes where the energy of a process fluid is to be recovered.
