Strømklemmer

Strømklemmer, often translated as "current clamps" or "clamp meters," are electrical testing instruments used to measure electrical current without direct contact with the conductor. They work by utilizing the principle of electromagnetic induction. A clamp meter has a jaw that can be opened and closed around a conductor, such as a wire or cable. When an alternating current (AC) flows through the conductor, it generates a magnetic field around it. The clamp meter's jaws contain a ferrite core that encircles the conductor, concentrating this magnetic field. A coil within the jaws then detects the changing magnetic field, and electronics inside the meter convert this signal into a current reading.

These devices are highly valuable for safety and convenience as they eliminate the need to break an electrical circuit to insert a traditional ammeter. This makes them ideal for troubleshooting and maintenance in live electrical systems. Most clamp meters can measure AC current, and many advanced models also offer the capability to measure direct current (DC) using a Hall effect sensor, which directly senses the magnetic field strength. In addition to current, many clamp meters also incorporate features to measure voltage, resistance, continuity, and frequency, acting as a versatile multimeter. They are commonly used by electricians, technicians, and engineers in various industrial, commercial, and residential settings.
