Stromverstärkung

Stromverstärkung refers to the process of increasing the magnitude of an electric current. This is a fundamental concept in electronics and is achieved through various electronic components and circuits. The primary goal of current amplification is to take a small input current and produce a larger output current, while ideally maintaining the signal's integrity or information content.

One of the most common devices used for current amplification is the bipolar junction transistor (BJT). In a BJT, a small current flowing into the base terminal controls a much larger current flowing between the collector and emitter terminals. This control mechanism allows for significant current gain. Another important component is the field-effect transistor (FET), which uses a voltage to control current flow, but certain configurations can also achieve current amplification.

Current amplification is crucial in many electronic applications. It is used in audio amplifiers to boost the signal from a microphone or other audio source to drive speakers. In radio transmitters, current amplification is used to increase the power of the radio frequency signal. It is also essential in motor control circuits, power supplies, and various signal processing applications where a weak input signal needs to be strengthened. The ratio of the output current to the input current is known as the current gain, often denoted by the Greek letter beta (β) for BJTs.
