Streitkräftebasis

The Streitkräftebasis, or SKB, is a central command of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Established on October 1, 2000, it was formed by merging various support and service branches that previously operated independently. The SKB's primary mission is to provide comprehensive support services to all branches of the Bundeswehr, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. This support encompasses a wide range of critical functions necessary for operational readiness and deployment.

The core responsibilities of the Streitkräftebasis include logistics, personnel management, infrastructure, and military police operations. It manages the supply chains for equipment, ammunition, and provisions, ensuring that deployed forces have the necessary resources. Furthermore, it oversees the administration and welfare of Bundeswehr personnel, including recruitment, training, and medical services. The maintenance and development of military infrastructure, such as bases and training grounds, also fall under its purview. Additionally, the SKB is responsible for the Feldjäger, the military police of the Bundeswehr, who maintain discipline and security.
