Stormfather

Stormfather is a significant entity within Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere fictional universe, primarily appearing in The Stormlight Archive series. He is the most powerful of the spren, which are sentient manifestations of abstract concepts or natural phenomena. In Stormfather's case, he is the living embodiment of the highstorms that sweep across the planet Roshar.

Stormfather is immense in size and power, capable of influencing and even controlling the highstorms themselves. He is intrinsically linked to the Stormlight, the magical energy that fuels the abilities of the Knights Radiant. Due to his connection to the storms, he has a broad, if often abstract, understanding of events and the passage of time on Roshar.

Initially, Stormfather is bound to Dalinar Kholin, a central character in the series, as a consequence of Dalinar's attempts to commune with the spiritual realm and understand the nature of the storms. This bond grants Dalinar access to Stormfather's power and knowledge, but also subjects him to Stormfather's sometimes overwhelming presence and judgment. Stormfather is known for his wisdom, but also for his tendency towards pronouncements and his immense, almost god-like, perspective, which can be difficult for mortals to fully comprehend. He plays a crucial role in the unfolding plot, guiding Dalinar and the other protagonists in their fight against the Voidbringers.
