Stolec

Stolec refers to the solid or semi-solid waste material that is eliminated from the digestive tract of an animal, typically through the anus. It is also commonly known as feces or excrement. The composition of stolec varies depending on the diet and physiology of the organism. In humans, it primarily consists of water, undigested food particles, bacteria, and metabolic waste products such as bile pigments. The color, consistency, and frequency of bowel movements can be indicators of an individual's digestive health.

The process of forming and expelling stolec is known as defecation. After food is consumed, it travels through the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine where nutrients are absorbed. The remaining indigestible material then moves into the large intestine, where water is absorbed, and waste is compacted into stolec. This waste is then stored in the rectum until it is eliminated from the body. Changes in stolec, such as blood in the stool, unusual coloration, or persistent diarrhea or constipation, can signal underlying medical conditions that may require professional evaluation. Studying stolec, or coprology, is a diagnostic tool used in medicine to assess gastrointestinal health and detect infections or other abnormalities.
