Stevinis
Stevinis, also known as Simon Stevin, was a Dutch mathematician, engineer, and statesman who lived from 1548 to 1620. He is best known for his contributions to the fields of mathematics and engineering, particularly for his work on hydrostatics and the development of the decimal system. Stevin's most significant contribution to mathematics was the introduction of the decimal system, which he presented in his work "De Thiende" (The Tenth) in 1585. This system, which uses a base of ten, was a significant advancement over the Roman numeral system and facilitated calculations in commerce and science.
In engineering, Stevinis made notable contributions to the field of hydrostatics, the study of fluids at rest.
Stevinis also held several important positions in the Dutch Republic, serving as a statesman and diplomat.
