Stereoäänikenttien, often translated as stereo sound fields or stereo soundstages, refers to the perceived spatial representation of sound within a stereo audio recording. It encompasses the width, depth, and height of the sound image created by the playback of two separate audio channels, typically left and right. A well-reproduced stereo sound field aims to create a sense of realism, allowing the listener to distinguish the positions of various instruments, vocals, and other sonic elements as if they were in a physical space.

The width of the sound field is determined by how far left and right the sounds appear to extend, ideally reaching beyond the physical speakers. Depth refers to the perception of distance, with some sounds appearing closer and others further away. Height, while less common in traditional stereo, can be suggested through specific recording and playback techniques. Factors influencing the stereo sound field include the recording techniques used, the mixing and mastering process, the quality of the audio playback equipment (speakers or headphones), and the acoustics of the listening environment. The goal is to create an immersive and believable acoustic space for the listener.
