Steckersystems
Steckersystems, or plug systems, refer to the family of connectors that enable detachable electrical, data, or fluid connections between components by means of a male plug and a female receptacle that fit together. They are designed to provide reliable electrical contact, defined mating geometry to ensure correct orientation, and mechanical retention in a variety of environments. Steckersystems comprise housings, contacts (pins and sockets), coupling features (such as threaded, bayonet, or push‑pull mechanisms), insulation, and optional shielding.
They are categorized by application (power, signal, high-speed data, or optical), by geometry (circular versus rectangular),
Design considerations include current and voltage ratings, contact resistance, mating cycle life, environmental sealing (IP protection),
Steckersystems enable modularity, repairability, and upgradeability by allowing components to be replaced or upgraded without rewiring.
