Statsadvokater

Statsadvokater are senior public prosecutors in Denmark who head regional offices of the Danish State Prosecution Service. The title is used for prosecutors responsible for leading prosecutions in a geographic area and coordinating investigations and trials, operating under the Director of Public Prosecution (Rigsadvokaten), who directs the national prosecution service.

Organizationally, the Danish public prosecution service is divided into regional offices, each led by a statsadvokat. These offices work closely with the police and other authorities to determine charges, supervise investigations, and represent the state in court. Candidates are generally required to hold a law degree and have many years of prosecutorial practice.
