StatenPartijen is a term used in the Netherlands to refer to the political parties represented in the provincial councils, known as Provinciale Staten. These councils are responsible for governing the twelve provinces of the Netherlands. Each province has its own Provinciale Staten, elected by the inhabitants of that province every four years.
