StatTrak

StatTrak is a feature used in Valve's Counter-Strike series, most notably CS:GO, that adds a kill counter to weapon skins. It is a trademarked aspect of CS:GO’s cosmetic item system and is applied to many weapon finishes, allowing the weapon itself to record the number of kills achieved with that specific skin.

Mechanics and display: Each StatTrak item has a unique identifier, and a kill counter is associated with the item rather than a particular player. The counter increments whenever the weapon is used to score a kill in matches by the current owner of the item. The counter and the item’s identity travel with the skin if it is traded or sold, continuing to accumulate regardless of ownership. The StatTrak status is visibly indicated on the item’s name and in the inventory, typically appearing as a StatTrak suffix or label.

Availability and market impact: StatTrak variants exist for many weapon skins and are generally valued higher on the market than their non-StatTrak counterparts, reflecting the added feature and rarity. Not all items support StatTrak; some skins, such as certain tournament or souvenir items, may lack StatTrak variants.

Limitations and notes: The counter measures only kills made with the weapon that carries the StatTrak item, and it persists across transfers. The feature does not grant any gameplay advantage other than the cosmetic display of the kill count. StatTrak is specific to certain items within CS:GO’s ecosystem and is not universally applied to all weapon skins or related items.
