Stadierea

Stadierea is a fictional genus of flowering plants created for illustrative purposes in this article. In the imagined taxonomy, it is placed in the family Amaryllidaceae and comprises two described species of taller, bulb-forming perennials.

Members of Stadierea are bulbous herbs characterized by narrow, linear leaves and a solitary, tall flowering scape that bears an umbel of upright, funnel-shaped flowers. The perianth is six-parted, usually pink to violet, with a contrasting central style. Fruits are dry capsules containing numerous round seeds.

In this fictional account, Stadierea is endemic to rocky limestone habitats on a hypothetical Aegean island archipelago, where it grows at mid elevations in well-drained soils. Its ecology suggests bee pollination and capsule-based seed dispersal.

The name Stadierea derives from Greek stadi- 'standing' and the Latin suffix -aria, chosen to evoke tall, erect inflorescences. The genus was described in a 2009 monograph by botanist Elena Vasilis for illustrative purposes; it remains a hypothetical construct.

Two described species are Stadierea alba and Stadierea violacea, distinguished by flower color and minor leaf traits. As a fictional example, these taxa are not recognized outside this article.
