Spørringsstrenger

Spørringsstrenger, sometimes referred to as query strings, are a fundamental component of URL structure, particularly in web development. They are appended to the end of a URL, following a question mark (?), to pass data from a client to a server. This data is typically presented as key-value pairs, where each pair consists of a parameter name (the key) and its corresponding value, separated by an equals sign (=). Multiple key-value pairs are then concatenated together, with each pair delimited by an ampersand (&).

For example, in the URL http://www.example.com/search?q=wiki&page=1, "q" is a key with the value "wiki", and "page" is another key with the value "1". The question mark signifies the beginning of the query string, and the ampersand separates the "q" parameter from the "page" parameter.

Query strings are commonly used for various purposes. They enable search engines to pass search terms to a website, allowing the site to display relevant results. They are also used to manage user preferences, such as language settings or display options, and to track user activity or session information. Web applications often leverage query strings to dynamically alter the content or behavior of a webpage without requiring a complete page reload. The data within a query string is sent to the server as part of the HTTP request and can be accessed and processed by server-side scripts to fulfill the client's request.
