Spuitmonden

Spuitmonden, the plural of spuitmond, are nozzles that constrain and atomize liquids as they are expelled from a spraying device. They are used in agriculture, painting, cleaning equipment, horticulture, and consumer spray products.

A nozzle works by forcing liquid through a small orifice while incorporating surrounding air or gas to create a spray pattern and determine droplet size. Common patterns include full cone, hollow cone, flat fan, and solid jet. Droplet size affects coverage, evaporation, and drift.

Nozzles are made of brass, stainless steel, aluminum, or plastic and may be threaded or quick-connect. Many nozzles are interchangeable and adjustable, allowing changes to spray angle, pattern, and flow. Regular cleaning helps prevent clogging and ensures chemical compatibility.

In agriculture, specific nozzles target pesticides and fertilizers with controlled coverage. In industry, nozzles apply coatings, cleaners, or fragrances. Selection depends on liquid properties, required pattern, drift management, and operating pressure. Safety considerations include avoiding aerosol hazards and adhering to regulatory guidelines on drift.
