Spoofingtámadások, or spoofing attacks, are a type of cyberattack where an attacker masquerades as a legitimate entity to gain trust or access. This can involve impersonating a known contact, a trusted organization, or even a device on a network. The primary goal is to deceive the victim into taking an action that benefits the attacker, such as revealing sensitive information or installing malware.

Common forms of spoofing include email spoofing, where an attacker sends emails that appear to originate from a trusted sender, and IP spoofing, where an attacker alters the source IP address in network packets to appear as if they are coming from a different, trusted source. Caller ID spoofing allows attackers to display a false phone number during a call, often used in phishing scams. DNS spoofing, also known as DNS cache poisoning, involves corrupting DNS data to redirect users to malicious websites.

Spoofing attacks can have serious consequences, ranging from identity theft and financial loss to the compromise of sensitive data and disruption of services. Prevention often involves a combination of technical safeguards and user education. For example, email authentication protocols like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC help combat email spoofing. Network administrators implement firewalls and intrusion detection systems to mitigate IP spoofing. Users are encouraged to be vigilant, scrutinize incoming communications for suspicious signs, and avoid clicking on unsolicited links or downloading attachments from unknown sources.
