These fluctuations are a fundamental aspect of many-body physics and play a key role in determining the magnetic, electronic, and transport properties of solids, especially in systems close to magnetic phase transitions. In a paramagnetic phase, spins are disordered but exhibit dynamic correlations that can be described by a spin susceptibility function. As temperature is lowered towards a critical point, the amplitude and spatial correlation length of these fluctuations grow, ultimately leading to long‑range magnetic order such as ferromagnetism or antiferromagnetism.
