Spannungsabhängigkeiten

Spannungsabhängigkeiten, also known as voltage dependencies, refer to the phenomenon where a material's electrical properties change in response to an applied voltage. This is a fundamental concept in electronics and materials science, influencing the behavior of many components and devices.

One common example is the voltage-dependent resistor, or varistor. In a varistor, the resistance decreases significantly as the voltage across it increases beyond a certain threshold. This characteristic makes varistors useful for protecting circuits from voltage surges. Another important area is the behavior of semiconductors. The conductivity of semiconductor materials, and thus their resistance, can be controlled by external electric fields or applied voltages, forming the basis of transistors and diodes.

In capacitors, the dielectric constant, which determines the capacitor's ability to store charge, can sometimes exhibit a slight voltage dependency, particularly in certain ceramic materials. This can lead to variations in capacitance with applied voltage, a phenomenon known as dielectric nonlinearity. Similarly, the magnetic properties of some ferromagnetic materials can be influenced by applied magnetic fields, which are directly related to current and voltage in electrical circuits.
