Souvenirs are objects kept as reminders of a person, place, or event. They are commonly acquired during travel or participation in an occasion and are intended to evoke memories of that experience. The term comes from the French souvenir, meaning a reminder or memory.

In tourism, souvenirs are typically inexpensive, portable items reflecting local culture, such as magnets, postcards, keychains, figurines, textiles, or handicrafts. Digital souvenirs, including photos, videos, and other downloaded media, have become more common with smartphones and social media. Markets near tourist sites and specialized shops often sell them, while collectors may seek regional crafts, antiques, or memorabilia.

Souvenirs serve both personal and social functions by signaling where a person has traveled and what experiences they value. Economically, they support local artisans and small businesses, but the market can favour mass-produced goods, raising concerns about cultural homogenization, authenticity, and environmental impact. Sustainable approaches emphasize locally made crafts, fair-trade practices, durable materials, and minimal waste.

Care and display practices vary by material. Textiles should be kept clean and away from direct sunlight; ceramics and wood benefit from dusting and humidity control; fragile items may require protective storage. Digital souvenirs can be preserved with organized archives and metadata to aid memory retention.
