Solskyddande

Solskyddande is a Swedish term that translates to "sun protective" or "sunscreen" in English. It refers to any product or method designed to shield the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. The primary function of solskyddande products is to prevent sunburn, premature aging of the skin, and reduce the risk of skin cancer, including melanoma.

The most common form of solskyddande is sunscreen, which contains chemical or physical filters. Chemical filters absorb UV rays, while physical filters, such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, create a barrier on the skin that reflects UV rays. The effectiveness of a sunscreen is measured by its Sun Protection Factor (SPF), which indicates how well it protects against UVB rays, the primary cause of sunburn. Higher SPF numbers offer greater protection.

Beyond sunscreens, solskyddande also encompasses other protective measures. Wearing protective clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts and wide-brimmed hats, can significantly reduce UV exposure.
