SolarKombiSysteme refers to integrated photovoltaic and solar thermal systems for residential buildings. These systems combine electricity generation from solar panels with heat generation from solar collectors to cover a building's energy needs. The primary goal is to maximize the utilization of solar energy for both heating and electricity, thereby reducing reliance on conventional energy sources.

A typical SolarKombiSystem includes a photovoltaic array to produce electricity, which can be used directly, stored in batteries, or fed into the grid. Simultaneously, a solar thermal collector system heats water or a heat transfer fluid, which is then used for domestic hot water supply and/or space heating. The integration allows for a more efficient use of available roof space and potentially a synergistic effect where the heat generated by the thermal collectors can improve the efficiency of the photovoltaic panels.

The components are usually connected to a central control unit that manages the energy flow, prioritizing self-consumption of generated solar energy. Surplus electricity can be used to power a heat pump or electric heater, further integrating the thermal and electrical components.
