Slitasjesikre

The term combines slitasje (wear or abrasion) and sikre (to protect or secure), reflecting a focus on extending service life in challenging wear environments.

In practice, slitasjesikre properties are achieved through material selection and surface engineering: choosing hard, tough base materials; applying protective coatings (such as ceramic, carbide-based, or diamond-like carbon), surface hardening techniques, and optimized geometries; and employing lubricants and appropriate design to reduce wear mechanisms. Desired characteristics include high hardness, good toughness, low coefficient of friction, strong coating adhesion, and resilience to microstructural damage under service conditions.

Applications for slitasjesikre performance span sectors where repeated contact and abrasive action are common. Typical areas include mining equipment, construction machinery, conveyors, gears, hydraulic seals, cutting tools, and other machinery parts exposed to debris, grit, or high loads.
