Slicestart

Slicestart is a term used in data processing and visualization to denote the starting point for generating a series of cross-sectional images (slices) from a multidimensional dataset. It can refer to an index, offset, or height value that determines where the slicing process begins.

In 3D printing, slicer software converts a 3D model into a stack of 2D layers. The slicestart value is the layer at which the process begins, allowing users to resume prints from a given height or to skip the initial layers for testing; it may be expressed as a layer number or Z-offset.

In medical imaging and volumetric data processing, slicestart can indicate the first slice to extract or display along a chosen axis. It supports operations such as cropping a volume, streaming slices, or applying filters to a subset of your data.
