Slagisisällön, also known as slag inclusion, is a term used in metallurgy to describe a type of impurity found in steel and other metals. It refers to non-metallic inclusions that are formed during the solidification of molten metal. These inclusions are typically composed of oxides, sulfides, or other compounds that are not desired in the final product. Slag inclusions can significantly affect the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the metal, making their presence undesirable.

The formation of slag inclusions is often a result of the reaction between the molten metal and the surrounding atmosphere or refractories. For example, oxygen in the air can react with the metal to form oxides, which then become trapped within the solidifying metal. Similarly, sulfur impurities in the metal can combine with oxygen to form sulfides. The size, shape, and distribution of these inclusions can vary, and they can be present in different forms, such as spherical, elongated, or irregular shapes.

To minimize the formation of slag inclusions, various techniques are employed in metallurgy. These include controlling the composition of the molten metal, adjusting the melting and solidification conditions, and using appropriate refractories. Additionally, secondary refining processes, such as vacuum degassing or argon stirring, can help to remove or modify the inclusions before the metal is cast into its final shape. Despite these efforts, slag inclusions remain a common issue in metallurgy, and their impact on the properties of the final product must be carefully managed.
