Skattetyper

Skattetyper refers to the different categories of taxes levied by governments. These taxes are a primary source of revenue, funding public services and infrastructure. Broadly, taxes can be classified as direct or indirect. Direct taxes are levied directly on individuals or corporations, based on their income or wealth. Examples include income tax, which is paid on earnings, and property tax, which is based on the value of owned real estate. Corporate tax is another direct tax, imposed on the profits of businesses.

Indirect taxes, on the other hand, are levied on goods and services rather than income. These taxes are often included in the price of the product or service and are paid by the consumer. Value-added tax (VAT) or goods and services tax (GST) is a common form of indirect tax, applied at each stage of production and distribution. Excise duties are another type of indirect tax, typically applied to specific goods like alcohol, tobacco, and fuel.

Other classifications exist, such as progressive taxes, where the tax rate increases with income, and regressive taxes, where the rate decreases as income increases. Proportional taxes, also known as flat taxes, apply the same rate to all income levels.
