Skagabyggð

Skagabyggð is a municipality located in the Skagafjörður region of northern Iceland. It was formed in 2022 through the merger of the former municipalities of Akrahreppur, Skagafjörður, and Sauðárkrókur. The municipality encompasses a significant portion of the Skagafjörður bay area and surrounding countryside.

The region is known for its rich history, particularly its association with the Icelandic sagas. Historically, Skagafjörður has been a center for agriculture and fishing.
