Sisetemperatuur

Sisetemperatuur is the target value in a temperature control system that a device or process strives to achieve and maintain. It serves as the reference input to a control loop, which compares the current temperature with the setpoint and decides how to actuate heating or cooling elements.

The set temperature is chosen by a user or by an automated control algorithm and is typically expressed in degrees Celsius or Kelvin. It can be fixed for a period or programmed to change over time, for example according to a daily schedule, occupancy patterns, or external conditions such as ambient temperature.

In practice, sensors continuously measure the actual temperature while a controller computes the necessary action to move toward the setpoint. Actuators then adjust heating, cooling, or other thermal sources. Common control methods include simple on/off control, which turns equipment fully on or off, and continuous control such as proportional–integral–derivative (PID) control, which modulates output more smoothly. A deadband or hysteresis region is often used to prevent rapid cycling around the setpoint.

The choice of setpoint has important implications for energy efficiency, comfort, and process quality. In residential heating, typical setpoints balance comfort with energy use; in refrigeration or industrial processes, tighter tolerances may be required to preserve product quality. Dynamic setpoints may be employed to adapt to time-of-day, occupancy, or external conditions, optimizing performance.
