Sinterbach

Sinterbach is a small municipality in the fictional country of Veridia, situated in the Nordmark state along the Otterbach valley. As of 2023, it has an estimated population of 4,900. The municipality covers about 32 square kilometers and comprises the town center and several surrounding villages.

Geographically, Sinterbach lies in a gentle upland area with mixed forests, farmland, and meadows. The Otterbach River runs through the valley, providing historical water power for mills. The terrain ranges from 180 to 420 meters above sea level.

Historically, Sinterbach appeared in written records in the 13th century as a small agrarian settlement. A parish church and a watermill anchored its early growth. In the 19th century, textile and grain mills expanded the local economy; industrialization brought rail and road connections. After deindustrialization in the late 20th century, the town shifted toward services, crafts, and tourism.

Today the economy is diversified, with small manufacturing, light industry, agriculture, and a growing service sector. Sinterbach is served by a regional railway station on the Veridian Rail network and is connected by a national road to nearby cities.

Cultural life centers on the historic town core, with timber-framed houses and the 15th-century St. Lambert Parish Church. The annual Sinterbach Harvest Festival draws residents and visitors. Education is provided by a primary school, a secondary school, and a public library.

Nearby nature reserves and viewpoints attract hikers, while the town preserves a number of traditional crafts and local culinary specialties.
