Sinne

Sinne is a term found in Germanic languages, most commonly as the plural form of Sinn. In German, Sinn means sense, meaning, or purpose, and Sinne denotes multiple senses or faculties of perception. The expression die Sinne refers to the senses of perception, traditionally the five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Sinn also appears in phrases such as mit allen Sinnen (with all one's senses) and Sinn des Lebens (meaning or purpose of life). In philosophy and cognitive discussion, Sinn can denote meaning, significance, or intent, and Sinne can be used to discuss multiple kinds of meaning.

Beyond ordinary language, Sinne may occur as a proper noun in German-speaking regions—most commonly as a surname
