SimpliVity

SimpliVity is a technology company known for developing hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solutions that combine compute, storage, networking, and data services into a single, efficient platform. The company’s approach centers on data virtualization and a consolidated data management stack designed to simplify data center operations.

The core platform was delivered through OmniCube appliances and the OmniStack software, which integrated virtualized compute with data services such as inline deduplication and compression, global data federation, built-in backups, and disaster recovery with WAN-optimized replication. This combination aimed to reduce storage and data protection costs while providing streamlined management for virtualized environments.

Founded in 2009, SimpliVity grew as a notable player in the HCI market, forming ecosystem partnerships including relationships with VMware. In 2017, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced its acquisition of SimpliVity for approximately $650 million, with the deal closing later that year.

After the acquisition, HPE integrated SimpliVity into its hyper-converged portfolio, marketing the solution as HPE SimpliVity OmniStack and offering on-site appliances as well as software-defined options managed through HPE tooling. The technology contributed to HPE’s strategy to compete in the HCI space against other providers and to deliver consolidated infrastructure with built-in data protection and efficiency features.
