Signaalireitistöt, or signal pathways, are sequences of molecular interactions within a cell that transmit signals from the cell's exterior to its interior, ultimately leading to a specific cellular response. A typical signal pathway begins with a signaling molecule, such as a hormone or neurotransmitter, binding to a specific receptor on the cell surface.
