History describes the archipelago as the realm of early seafaring cultures known as the Asteri, who arrived around 1200 BCE in the fictional timeline. Over centuries, successive states established trade networks across the islands and with neighboring continents. The Great Concord, a treaty establishing the federal system, was signed in the 16th century in the story’s timeline.

Society is centered on a multicultural and maritime tradition. The official language is Sicilianan, with minor dialects on each island. Religions include a syncretic mix of ancestral rites and maritime worship. Education is centralized in the capital, Harborgate on the central island of Ardent. The archipelago uses a currency named Sol.

Governance and economy: Sicilys operates as a federal confederation with local assemblies and a central Council of Isles in Harborgate City. Key industries include fishing, shipbuilding, citrus agriculture, wine, and ecotourism. Trade routes connect to mainland kingdoms and distant archipelagos.

Notable features include the Blue Gorge, the Glass Reef, and the Singing Winds pass, a coastal corridor that hosts annual maritime festivals and markets.
