Shuntauksella
Shuntauksella, also known as shunt surgery, is a medical procedure used to treat certain types of heart conditions. It is typically performed on infants and children who are born with a heart defect called atrial septal defect (ASD). The procedure involves creating a small opening in the chest to access the heart, and then using a small tube called a shunt to redirect blood flow from the heart's left atrium to the right atrium. This helps to balance the blood flow between the two sides of the heart, allowing the heart to pump more efficiently. Shuntauksella is a temporary solution and is often followed by a second procedure to close the ASD permanently. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes about an hour to complete. Recovery time varies but typically involves a few days in the hospital. Complications are rare but can include infection, bleeding, and damage to surrounding structures. Shuntauksella is a critical intervention that can significantly improve a child's quality of life and long-term heart health.
